David Randall LaChapelle
Oct 8, 1952 - July 21, 2009
The only son of Dolores and Ed LaChapelle, "Randy" changed his name to David in his 20's when he found and was able to maintain a steady stream of connection with the Divine, which changed his life forever.
Raised in the depth of his parent's research, arts and snow; unbridled in his devotion to mountains and glaciers, science and spirit, great beings and mystics, psychology and healing, David found a way to bring a balance of humor and intensity to deeply transformational work for individuals and groups, leaders, marriages and teens... always far more interested in the individual unfolding Soul than in the instability of the human condition, personality realm or relative comfort of the ego.
This offered anyone he came in contact with the grace and presence for deep repatterning, in fact people usually reported feeling truly "seen" in David's presence. His life was about service and helping "burn the karma of humanity" he would say when describing examples he treasured: Saint Francisco di Assisi, the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Gandhi, Ammachi, Jesus, Saint Teresa, Mother Meera, Baba Muktananda, John Fire Lame Deer to name a few.
David's body developed cancer and he left his body on an eclipse of the moon, July 21 2009, exactly two years and six months, to the day after his own mother passed in January 21, 2007. His parents died 10 days of each other, in fact. Usually more common for those still married, but they had tended a mutual and collegial relationship over many years. David spent the last 2 and a half years of his life knowing what children often want to know... that his parents loved each other. He also was able to spend those 2 years feeling the love from the communities that had formed around him - a harvest cultivated through 30+ years of teaching and giving so much.
